DISTCO 2008

DISTCO 2008 IN A NUTSHELL

Digital storytelling combines the art of storytelling with a variety of multimedia components, such as sound, music, digital pictures, video clips and text. Digital stories usually last between two and ten minutes. Topics used can include personal tales, retellings of historical events, teaching/introducing a specific subject to an audience, and various other purposes.

DISTCO 2008 is a “Digital Storytelling Contest” hosted by School of Science and Technology (SST). The contest will be open to not only SST students but also all schools surrounding San Antonio and in the larger extent, Texas.

The DISTCO 2008 asks students  to submit their digital stories in a certain time frame and manner for the contest. The competition will be held solely online through this website. The project has certain benefits.  It is a way of exposing and challenging the students in a competition where theY can show their certain skills in multimedia and technology.

There will also be a research aspect of the project. This project will also contribute to investigation of educational uses of digital storytelling in K-12. The results of the research will be published and shared in SITE 2009 conference. Results also will be available trough the Official website of DISTCO 2008.
